It has been a long time – perhaps over 2 years – since I have shot any kids over 12 (and under 21), so it is always an interesting challenge – as the rules of the game are very different. After recruiting both boys to do some shoveling in the backyard – to make use of an optimal shooting backdrop outdoors – we began. These two brothers were quite different from one another – and thus required different strategies. One of the two (I’ll let you guess which) – was more reserved. I realized after I had left that I should have asked his brother to shake his booty off to the side while I was shooting – to elicit a few more smiles
. The bottom line, however, is that I captured some great shots of some very handsome young men.

- Very very handsome and I think you have captured them perfectly.
Family is Where the Heart is {toronto photographer children}
This was just a great session and a lovely family. Everyone was a pleasure to work with, and cooperative for the most part (wink, wink – we’re talking about an almost-3-year-old in the mix). There is a connectedness with so many families that I work with – and this family was no exception – which is one of the reasons I love my job so much. At one point, while shooting the older sister and taking a break, I could hear the younger brother and his father playing together downstairs – really playing together – and it was a really nice mini moment. Finally – as you will see – I snuck in a picture of Mom & Dad – because they are just so darned cute!! Thanks for looking
.
Full of Beans {toronto children photographer}
These two little lovelies were just that… full of beans. The youngest was an early walker – who loved moving around whenever he got the chance. The older one (clearly a princess!) was full of joy and smiles. Both kids were a real treat to work with – as were their parents. As you can see by the last shot – trying to get a picture of the two of them together proved to be a bit tricky
. Thanks for looking.

- Stunning set of photos, love the last one, so playful!
- LOL! The last one would make a great last page to a session album. And the others are wonderful captures of personality!
Family Vacation {toronto family photographer}
Ahhhh – how nice it was to touch down in Punta Cana, in the Dominican Republic, and feel that warm Caribbean air touch our bodies. My husband and I took our first sun vacation with our kids since they were born, and I would say we would definitely consider it again next year. Apart from a 24 hour stint with food borne illness for my son, the trip was a success. I highly recommend the Club Med in Punta Cana. The food was great, and the programs and entertainment for the kids was plentiful. My son swam on his own for the first time as well, which was VERY exciting for us all. All in all, a great vacation. Oh… and a big shout out and thank you to Lance, the Architect from Oakville, who took a picture of our family (below) just before we left the resort
.
- Looks and sounds like you had a wonderful holiday.
Babies Make Five – toronto newborn photographer
A beautiful sunny day delivered a great session with these two newborn baby boys and their sweet and sassy (not to mention, smart!) older sister. Cooperation (for the most part
) was the order of the day – and I’m betting all 3 kids had a chunky nap after I left (or at least I hope for Mom and Dad’s sake that they did
). Thanks to the family for making it all come together, and an extra thank you to the sweet big sister who did not disappoint in the entertainment department. Thanks for looking!
- love them all, and that second one is just divine! beautiful work!
- These are so lovely. I esp love the second image, very sweet.
- What a gorgeous family!
A Truly Compliant Subject…
… food! I recently shot food for the first time as a favour for my husband for an upcoming promotion for Il Fornello Restaurants. I was a little hesitant when he first mentioned it, but once I was on board I started checking out food pictures online to get a sense of where the lighting came from, etc. Although I don’t plan on shooting any more food in the near future (I prefer subjects that aren’t so cooperative!) – I did actually find it quite interesting and I did enjoy the end result. If after checking out the food below, you find your tummy rumbling, you may want to check out Il Fornello’s WinterDelicious promotion – $25 for a Prix Fixe menu featuring deliciously delightful food!
A Ray of Sunshine – toronto newborn photographer
This little guy was older than most of the newborns I shoot – as he was already 5 weeks at our session. He was a complete gentleman throughout the entire session – even when things took a bit of an unusual turn, as the power went out in the condominium – but not before the smoke alarms started acting up
. Since I shoot natural-light, however, the lack of power was fortunately not an issue. That is… until I left. Upon leaving, it was necessary to take the stairs (as the elevators were not working – good thing we were only on the 3rd floor!). The hallway and stairwell were as black as night. Good thing I had my trusty iPhone with my ‘Just Light’ app – which did it’s job lighting the way to the bright outdoors. Thanks for looking!
Christmas Eve Arrival – toronto newborn photographer
What a month for newborns! Something is surely in the air as I have never had so many young babies in January before!
This little newborn boy and his older brother were a reminder of the chaos and fatigue that visits a family when they go from 1 child to 2 – the newborn is completely on his own schedule, and the older brother is simply ready to go go go! Both boys did cooperate eventually, however, and we were able to get some great shots. Thanks for looking!

A Busy House… Gets Busier
This family welcomed in their sixth member (4 kids and 2 adults) on December 23rd. Suffice to say it was a very busy morning – with only a few snags along the way
. Nothing, however, could mask the joy that the older siblings felt about their new baby brother. We also ventured outdoors at the end of the session – which resulted in at least a few decent shots (one shown here) – and a good change of pace for those that were becoming restless indoors
. Thanks for looking!

The newest member...

Peekaboo!

Just chillaxin'...

Ahhh... happy to be outdoors.
