I cannot imagine a life without them.

Over the years I have met some real keepers and those friendships have continued to grow. Like many women, I have a solid group of gal pals from my university years (in fact, we figure we will outlive our husbands and live all together again one day!). Since then, however, I have come across some amazing women who I have developed beautiful friendships with. I feel so blessed and grateful to have them in my life.

Let’s be honest… there are just some things that you discuss with your girlfriends only.

So this post is really a huge THANK YOU to those women who have touched me deeply and who I trust to share some of my deepest fears.

I am a better person because of you.

I am a better friend because of you.

I am a better mother because of you.

I am a better wife because of you.

I am a better sister because of you.

I am a better daughter because of you.

I am more inspired in my work because of you.

I continue to grow because of you…

As well, each year I am required to rise to the challenge of doing a new video – something short and sweet and to the point :-).

This year, Niels had a greater role in the production of the video. You can see this year’s short, 1 minute YouTube video below…

We decided to put in winter water at our cottage this winter (no more lugging water up from the lake to do the dishes)  and ended up going up there almost every other weekend. We are water access in the summer (meaning you drive your car to the marina and then take a boat across) – which means we walk across the ice in the winter to get to our cottage. Fortunately, the ice was still very thick for this March break and we all had a wonderful time playing together.

We have become friends with the owners of the marina – Jen & Rob Walisser (Old Mill Marina)  – and we were fortunate enough to have Jen take this family picture for us out on the ice on Kawagama Lake. Thanks so much Jen (and thanks for that fantabulous German meal you prepared for us on Friday night)!.

I was greeted with complete exuberance by the 3 1/2 year old little girl – and her new brother was cool as a cucumber and behaved like an absolute gentleman. It was a real treat to work with this family again.

Having photographed both boys as newborns, it was only fitting that I would come and do the honours for their third. She did not disappoint, with her chubby little cheeks and shock of dark hair (which is hidden in the photo below). The session was not without it’s challenges (read… non-sleeping newborn and got-up-at-4a.m. 20 month old) – but all in all it went very well. Thanks for looking!

I’m a not-so-closet Justin Bieber fan – as is my son (much to some of his classmates’ dismay). This past Sunday, I decided to check online to see when Justin might be coming to Toronto. Much to my surprise – he was due to be at the Air Canada Centre 2 days later (this past Tuesday – November 23rd). Alas – I searched around and found myself some [very expensive] tickets as an early birthday present for my son Niels, who is a lover of all music.

The concert was set to kick off at 7pm – which it did – with two opening acts. The first was a fairly uninspiring Jasmine V, followed by Sean Kingston (of ‘Shawny-fire-burning-on-the-dance-floor’ fame). Sean was a big hit with the Justin Bieber fans.

At long last – 8:45pm to be exact (Niels’ bedtime and then some) – Justin came out.    O.  M.  G.   Just imagine how loud thousands of mostly young female girls can be. Ear piercing to say the least! Fortunately, there were a few boys in our midst to keep Niels company LOL.

Although the sound system at the ACC could use a re-vamp, the concert was a lot of fun. It would have been nice to see it through to the end. That didn’t happen, of course, as Niels was done by 9:45pm. At least he enjoyed one hour of Bieber Fever – and put a nice memory into his memory bank of a great night out with his Mom. Enjoy some pictures I took with my point and shoot from the event – and thanks for reading and looking!
