We recently had the wonderful opportunity to visit Camp Huronda’s Family Camp for 3 days and nights. Camp Huronda is a wonderful camp for kids with Type 1 Diabetes. They offer families of diabetic children the opportunity to see what it is all about for 3 days at the end of August each summer. As many of your know, our son Niels is diabetic, and he is quite excited (as we are) about attending the camp overnight on his own once he turns 8 years old (he is 6 now).
Aside from rather sketchy accommodations (picture a cabin that young boys have cohabited in all summer), and some middle-of-the-night runs to the outdoor washrooms :-), it was a lot of fun. There were many fun activities for the kids and adults alike, as well as campfires at night. Below you can see that Niels & Lola both thoroughly enjoyed climbing. Lola also took a stab at riding a horse for the first time.
Thanks Camp Huronda for a wonderful time!
